OUR HISTORY.....Fun Facts!

When were the Cherokee Charmers Established?

The first year a "drill team" was formed was in 1962. In the 1962 annual there are several small pictures of the team on the page marked "homecoming." They wore Indian dresses and headband with a feather. The next year, 1963, they wore the same thing but in the annual the pages were marked "Drill Team". In 1964, the uniforms changed and they wore hats and socks and tennis shoes. During that year, the drill team needed a name. Everyone entered their ideas and then voted on the best ones hence the name "Cherokee Charmers" was born.
